Before Obsidian
2002 - 2020
For nearly twenty years, I poured my life into nursing, with more than half of that time as a nurse practitioner. My career took me into some of the most intense, high-stakes environments you can imagine: critical care units, trauma surgery, emergency rooms, and a decade of scrubbing into the operating room with steady, confident hands. I believed I had found my forever path — a life defined by precision, urgency, and purpose.
A Turning Point
2021
But in 2021, everything changed. A painful, unexpected life event brought me to my knees and forced me to consider a road I never imagined walking. It was devastating, yet it became the catalyst for a transformation I didn’t know I needed. With fear and faith woven together, I stepped into aesthetics. It was new territory in terms of skill, but the heart of it was familiar. Caring for people, empowering them and building genuine relationships. This had always been my purpose. On September 1, 2021, I opened the doors to Obsidian in a 600-square-foot space, carrying little more than resilience, relentless prayer, and the hope that someone would walk in. I named it Obsidian after one of my favorite places in the world, Yellowstone National Park. Obsidian, the volcanic glass, is sharp, resilient, and forged in fire. It was a symbol that felt like me and everything I'd been through.
First Growth
2022
By 2022, Obsidian had begun to outgrow the little room where it all started. Clients were returning, new faces were walking through the door, and I could see my dream becoming reality. The demand quickly outpaced what I could manage on my own, and it became clear I needed help. That year, I welcomed my very first employee, someone who immediately understood the heart behind Obsidian and believed in where it was headed. She’s still by my side today, a reminder that this dream was never meant to be carried alone. That first hire marked the turning point when Obsidian shifted from “my” story into “our” story.
Expansion & Rebrand
2024
In 2024, we took a leap forward. We moved into a brand-new space that I designed with intention — a space that felt beautiful, welcoming, and true to everything I had dreamed a med spa could be. With the move came a rebrand, not just in appearance, but in vision and purpose. What started as a step into aesthetics began expanding into something larger: a philosophy of wellness that honored the truth that beauty starts from within.
A Growing Team & Evolving Purpose
2025 - Onwards
Today, Obsidian has become a small but mighty team of four. What started with just me in a tiny room is now a collective effort, each of us bringing our own strengths to create an environment that is welcoming, intentional, and deeply caring. Together, we’ve built more than a med spa, we’ve created a place where people feel seen, supported, and valued.
We’re also expanding our vision. With the addition of Hormone Replacement Therapy & other impactful services, Obsidian is moving beyond aesthetics into wellness, reflecting my belief that true beauty begins within. For us, it’s not just about helping clients look their best; it’s about giving them the tools and confidence to take ownership of their health, their bodies, and their lives.
